Kevin Geiger and Steven Gedeon views
on the Value of Business Plans
The two experts in the field of writing and reviewing
business plans I am going to examine and summarize are Kevin Geiger and Steven
Gedeon.
Kevin Geiger is in the film industry, working with visual effects, he is a producer and production manager. He is best known for this work on Chicken Little, Reign of Fire and Species. (Imdb,2014) Later on in his career, he started a company named Animation options and their mission “is to share the production values that I have successfully applied throughout my own animation industry career”. (Animation Options LLC, 2014) The critical & key components that investors are looking for in a plan are to have a great creative plan and business plan, not just one. These are important keys to considered because an investor will not get behind your film project if they cannot see how they will get their money back.
Steven Gedeon graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is an entrepreneurship educator and a public speaker. Steven Gedeon has experience in almost every area of entrepreneurship for starting to executive. Currently, “He is Associate Professor at the largest entrepreneurship program in Canada – the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University and Director of the Ryerson Entrepreneur Institute. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the US and Canada; has sat on over 30 boards and technical committees; and has won over 20 awards.” (About Steve Gedeon, 2014) The critical & key components that investors are looking for in a plan are how are you different from your competitors, to a way that is important to your customer, your management team, overall business plan, and financials. These are important keys to considered because if these are not in order, an investor will not even read your business plan.

I am actually considering using both of these business plans;
adjusting both to fit my company. I am going to use Kevin Geiger format:
Production Company at the top level
Development companies at the mid level
Producing companies at the lowest level
Then I will use Steven Gedeon’s key components to make sure
that my management team, business plan, and financials are all well organized
and that they are at their highest quality.
